About the Event
Preservation Piedmont is delighted to offer our first in-person event since our lives drastically changed last March. Join us on Thursday, May 13 at 10:00am for a private tour of the Quarry Gardens at Schuyler. Soapstone has been mined from the historic Schuyler community since the 1890s. The featured quarries at the Gardens were actively mined between the 1950s and 1970s and have since been transformed by the owners into walking trails and gardens.
This event has limited availability (40 people in two seperate tours, limit of two tickets per member) and will be offered on a first come first serve basis. This event is being offered free of charge thanks to a generous donation from Board member Alex Ix. Stay tuned for more events being offered in the coming months!
Please RSVP for this event. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and the gardens are located 45 minutes south from Charlottesville. Please be sure to find important info on the garden's website for walking conditions - the site is somewhat challenging and there are stairs. Preservation Piedmont will not be providing any food but you are welcome to bring your own lunch for a picnic in the pavilion after the tour.
The Quarry Gardens are located in Schyler, 1643 Salem Road 22969, about 45 minutes south from Charlottesville. There are parking spaces for just 21 cars so if you are coming with a pod friend please carpool.
